Evolve Case Study: Never too late for a new beginning

When referred to us by Lichfield Job Centre in January 2020, Jake was homeless and waiting on securing accommodation with the local housing authority. Understanding the urgency of his situation, our dedicated team helped with the practical sides of his housing application, resulting in Jake been awarded a property with Bromford Housing within a matter of weeks.

Prior to this, Jake was made redundant in 2013 and due to not knowing what help and support were available to him at the time, ended up losing his home. Therefore, he didn’t have much choice but to live on the streets for a number of years.

Before the lockdown came into effect in March 2020, we started working together on building his CV and coaching him through the job application process. Over the following months, we tried to keep in touch with Jake but lost contact in November.

In March 2021, Jake contacted us and explained that he had been struggling to pay his phone bill and the lockdown restrictions have proven to be an additional obstacle that prevented him from keeping in touch with us. As Jake did not have a smartphone, or access to a personal laptop, he had to wait for the libraries to open again in order to continue his online job search.

By the time we finally met up with Jake in April, we were delighted to see that he had changed completely as he appeared to be more confident and determined to make a positive change in his life. Due to the hard work and dedication of our team, as well as his own determination, Jake managed to secure employment at Tesco Warehouse, Fradley.

We are incredibly proud of what Jake has achieved so far and we are grateful that we have been part of his employment journey! Well done, Jake!
