Evolve Case Study: Finding a new path

After contacting Citizens Advice for support, Janet joined BBO Evolve in January 2021. She had recently been made unemployed after working for a company for years and was looking to get back into work as soon as possible. From the outset, we supported Janet to ensure she was receiving the correct benefits, such as the Warm Homes Discount, of which she was not aware she was entitled to. Thereafter, we started working on building up her CV and making sure that was up-to-date. As Janet was not completely confident in using IT and sending emails to potential employers, we supported her and showed her how to do it by using a step-by-step approach.

Identifying her own areas for development, Janet wanted support with interview techniques and how she could improve in this area. Consequently, we organised a mock interview and her Work Coach played the potential recruiter while we focused on questions that she had struggled to answer when placed in similar situations. As a result of this, she gained confidence in herself and believe that she was ready for a real interview.

Janet frequently commended on how friendly and supportive everyone at Evolve has been and the huge amount of support she received.

Tom was very helpful with all my questions. Evolve is the right name because it helps the individual to evolve to look to the future for prospects. Once again, thank you for all of your help.

Her Work Coach at Evolve said that Janet was a pleasure to work with, and was always chatty and positive whilst being highly motivated to do a good job. He congratulated her on her new job at Tamworth Job Centre – the contract for which she’s photographed with above – and commented that she will brighten the days of everyone who visits their office.

Congratulations, Janet! We wish you all the best in your new role!
