When Nikita first enrolled on to the Bridges project, she knew she wanted a change in her career but was unsure where to start. Nikita needed to build confidence in herself and required guidance to help build self-esteem in interview situations. Work immediately started on Nikita’s CV and the Bridges team at Manor Farm helped Nikita recognise and value her transferable skills. Together they ensured Nikita’s references were up to date, explored interview techniques and preparation for possible zoom and remote telephone call interviews due to the pandemic, enabling Nikita to be ready for when the offers of employment began.
Nikita confirmed the support received, although mostly by remote telephone calls, was extremely helpful and states she always felt someone was on hand to discuss any queries she had. Support included looking and applying for volunteer positions in her desired field.
Nikita received an offer of employment working for a local catering company. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the fact that schools had closed her DBS and start date was continually delayed. Thankfully, our support did not stop there! Nikita received further guidance finding courses to upskill for her new role. Eventually Nikita was offered a role as a project worker which she accepted.
Nikita advised she had achieved all her goals and feels she has gained many friends along the way. Originally Nikita was recommended by another participant and thanks her dearly for the recommendation. “Who knew support like this was available in my own area?” Nikita appreciates how important her journey with the Bridges project has been and she advises anyone who is thinking of joining, “Don’t think, just join, it may just change your life!”
