BBO Bridges Case Study: Turning a New Page in Life

Ben* was out of work for years when he joined BBO Bridges ProjectHe has been attending weekly job centre appointments and just feeling that he was not getting anywhere.  One day, he noticed a leaflet from BBO Bridges offering plant training. He made enquiries as that was something he had always been interested in, but did not know where to start.

A week later, our job coach Sophie called Ben and explained details of the course to him. Ben then signed up for the BBO Bridges project and enrolled into the next available course. He started the plant machine course shortly after. Whenever he had any issue or query, he would share with Sophie and got the support that he needed, every step of the way. Sophie would always reassure him and push him to get to where he wants to be.

Three months later, Ben was qualified with a CPCS licence, CSCS card and other health and safety qualifications. A few weeks later, he got the first interview in years, and he was offered a job on trial period. Shortly after, he secured a full-time job and was promoted to assistant supervisor one month later.

Ben came to us with a problem that most parents have faced: how to get sustainable employment and support their families. Our program not only gives him a fresh career start with career development opportunities, but it also changed his life for the better. He and his daughter are incredibly grateful to every at BBO Bridges and the support we provided.

Bridges is funded by the European Social Fund and the National Lottery Community Fund. For more information about the project, please visit stepstowork.co.uk/bridges or contact us on 01922 627555.
