BBO Bridges Case Study: Believe in yourself

When Kate* first contacted BBO Bridges, she had been struggling with mental health, low self-esteem and confidence. She was even thinking of quitting her driving lessons as she had been doing small mistakes and got frustrated about it.

Kate told us that she is interested in pursuing a career in Psychology or Counselling but she needed to take her Maths and English qualifications first. We supported her in her enrolling in the local college and she has taken the initiative to do the applications and admission on her own. The arrangements around her studies have allowed a great degree of flexibility as she would be able to take care of her child.

While attending every English and Maths class, we worked with Kate and advised her to apply for Level 2 certificates in Counselling and Mental Health Awareness at Walsall College about which she was incredibly excited and looking forward to starting as soon as possible.

We are incredibly impressed by Kate and this is what her personal project officer at BBO Bridges says about her:

Kate particularly stands out to me as she has demonstrated progress in her personal and professional development. She has found the strength and ability to challenge her negative beliefs and outlook on life which has now proved beneficial as she can now see the positive attributes about herself that she could not see before.

Moreover, she has grown in confidence and now she believes she can do anything she puts her mind to she is looking forward to expanding her education and to opening doors to a future career in the Mental Health sector, as well as passing her driving test!
